Noctis features a streamlined onboarding flow designed for both new and returning users. New users are guided through a minimal, swipe-based intro that highlights key features like the sky-viewing interface, Codex system, and tracking tools. Account creation is optional at first, allowing users to start exploring immediately and encouraging engagement without friction. For returning users, the app remembers preferences and offers a one-tap resume experience, bringing them back to their last viewed constellation or progress in the Codex.
The Codex in Noctis acts as a dynamic, gamified archive that evolves as users explore the sky. When a user taps on a celestial object within the map, they're taken to a clean, info-rich screen displaying its name, classification, visibility status, and a brief scientific description. The layout is minimalist and easy to navigate, with expandable sections for more in-depth facts, mythology, and historical data. Unlocking objects adds them to the Codex, which visually tracks progress and encourages continued exploration.
